What needs a permit in Euless?
A shed, pergola or gazebo of 120 square feet or more needs a permit here. Under that it doesn't, but it still has to meet the setbacks and stay out of easements. Behind the house, a small building can sit 3 feet from the lot line if it's no taller than 8 feet, and it can go a foot higher for every extra 2 feet it moves in.
What are the houses like?
Mostly ranch houses from the 1960s through the '80s in the middle and south of the city, older streets around Midway Park, and newer gated homes at the Estates at Bear Creek. In the main residential district, houses are 90 percent masonry and one side yard can be as narrow as 4 feet.
The city doesn't allow anything permanent, air-conditioning units included, in a side yard under 7 feet wide without its permission, which rules out tucking a shed down the side of the house.
