Handyman in Keller, from Old Town to Hidden Lakes
Keller wants a permit before any tree comes down, which matters more than you'd think when you're siting a gazebo. Send the list; one price comes within 24 hours.

Keller's houses are mostly from the last thirty-odd years, on bigger lots than most of the Mid-Cities, so a handyman list in Keller tends to be about putting things up: TVs, closet shelving, a gym in the garage, a playset out back. Repairs too. It's all on the list of what we do.
Can I take down a tree to make room for a shed or playset?
Not without a permit. Keller requires one to remove any tree in the city. If the flat spot for the gazebo has an oak in the middle of it, move the gazebo or talk to the city first. We assemble around trees; we don't take them down.
Shed rules in Keller
A shed of 120 square feet or less needs no permit, but it still has to sit 5 feet from every property line, stay out of easements and stay under 10 feet tall. Bigger than that, it needs a permit, and the rules tighten: at most two detached buildings, at least 10 feet apart, and together less than half the size of the house.
Materials step up with size. Between 120 and 200 square feet the siding can be lightweight masonry or pre-finished wood; above 200 it has to be brick, stone or match the house. Most resin kits stay under 120 square feet, which keeps them in the simplest bracket.
Which parts of Keller do you cover?
All of it. Hidden Lakes has gated villages and an HOA architectural committee, and the north side around Marshall Ridge is mostly 2008 onward. Highland Oaks is older, 1980s and '90s houses on wooded quarter-acre lots, and its oaks are exactly what the tree permit protects. Old Town's overlay aims to keep the look of a small Texas town from the early 1900s. Next door, we also cover Watauga, Argyle, Euless and Fort Worth.
Before you book
Send the list and photos. For backyard kits, a wide shot of the spot shows us the slope and any trees in the way.
Call (469) 577-1791For anything outside, expect to. The Hidden Lakes HOA has an architectural committee, and exterior changes go through it as well as the city.
Only for bigger projects. Design review there runs through site plan approval for new buildings and for additions costing a quarter or more of the house's appraised value. Mounting, assembly and repairs inside are no different from anywhere else.
Under 10 feet if it's 120 square feet or less. Bigger sheds can go to 15 feet with a permit.
